2009 WESTERN REGION CONFERENCE - OCTOBER 25, 2009

At the 2009 Western Region Conference, information relevant to Scouting in and for the Jewish community will be shared among those who serve Jewish youth in the territory of the Western Region (see above) and elsewhere around the country. For more information, click here

MULTI-COUNCIL JCOS EVENTS

Wood Badge, July 19-24, 2009, Pacific Palisades, CA -- Western Los Angeles County Council (WLACC) announces a Shabbat-friendly Wood Badge course at the Council's Camp Josepho, Sunday – Friday, July 19-24, 2009. Without excluding any Scouter interested in attending regardless of his or her faith, this course has been calendared with sensitivity to the needs of the Jewish Scouting community. This is perhaps the only Wood Badge course so calendared in the Western Region and is available to Scouters within the WLACC and throughout the Western Region and beyond. Please contact Course Director Jack Fishel for further information about this course. Registration information is available here. For Shabbat hospitality, contact Sanford Weinberg. Wood Badge is the most advanced training available for Scout Leaders who are involved in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America. Camarillo, CA -- Tim Thomton, Scout Executive of Ventura County Council, announces the appointment of John McBride as the Chair of the council's Jewish Committee on Scouting. John takes over for Lee Hess, a long-time, dedicated Scouter who held the position for many years.

Cimarron, NM -- On Friday, June 26, 2009, four dedicated Jewish adult leaders "graduated" from the week long course of the National Jewish Committee on Scouting, called "Scouting Serves the Jewish Community" at Philmont Scout Ranch, BSA's national volunteer training center.
